About the Artist -
I am an Honorably Retired, Combat Wounded veteran of Iraq and
Afghanistan. I have served 8 years in the United States Army with
the 82nd Airborne and 1st Infantry Divisions
as a Combat Engineer Squad Leader. I am a father of three girls and
I am luckily still married to my wife Gretchen, whom I have known
since middle school. I was raised for most of my life in Great
Falls, Montana and I am currently attending the Great Falls College
Montana State University in pursuit of a Bachelors of Science in
Nursing.
I was exposed to painting as part of an Art Therapy Program designed
for Wounded Warriors by the Bemis School of Art in Colorado Springs,
Colorado. In that class, we were shown how we express our emotions
through art and what your art may symbolically represent. As part
of the program, we transitioned from pencil drawings, to color
pencils, water colors, and ended on Acrylic Paints.
Prior to this Therapy Program, I had never painted. I prefer to
stick to landscape paintings which feature various terrain aspects
from Montana and Colorado, or they are 100% imaginary. After the Art
Therapy program, I discovered that Oil Paints are my preferred
medium. My work has been seen on The View, donated to multiple
Veterans’ Charity organizations across the United States, and is on
display at the Great Falls College, Montana State University.
